The Story Behind the Birth of The TJ Agunda Show

Every great dream starts small and sometimes, painfully small. For me, it all began in a tiny rented room. No studio, no equipment, no crowd. Just me, my phone, my bed, and a burning dream from God. That little space became my first studio.

I remember recording my first video right there, squeezed beside my bed. When I finished, fear struck me. I felt like I had done something terribly wrong. I couldn't sleep that night. I lay on my stomach, my legs on the cold floor, uncovered, thinking about what I had just started.

Will anyone ever believe in this? I asked myself. But deep down, another voice whispered, keep going. Don't stop now. That night, I prayed not just once, but again and again. I poured my heart out to God, asking Him for direction, for courage, for strength. And I felt His peace. I knew I wasn't alone.

From that night onward, I prayed daily. And I told my girlfriend, my close friend, and my mentor to keep praying for me too — because I believed if we all stood in faith, this vision would not die.

I soon realized that I needed to move the show outside. Inside that room, I felt too confined — my dreams were outgrowing the walls around me. So, I decided to build a wooden frame to hold my first banner, right in my landlord's compound.

I hired one of the most skilled carpenters in the area. The day was extremely hot, the sun burned our backs as we worked. I tried to help him nail a board and ended up hitting my own finger. The pain was intense, but I laughed through the tears. I told myself, "If I can handle this pain, I can handle any challenge that comes my way."

By evening, we were exhausted, but when I saw the finished frame standing tall, I whispered a prayer: "Lord, this is the beginning. Please bless this vision."

A week later, my girlfriend came to help me prepare for the first official show. She gave her full energy, her strength, and her encouragement. Her support that day reminded me that God sends the right people when your heart is right.

That day, we hosted a young, faith-filled friend from our church — a brother who shared love for Christianity. My brother Gasim stood behind the camera, holding just a small smartphone. But the way he recorded, the care in his eyes, made it feel like a professional setup.

We laughed, we sweated, and we prayed together before recording. It was a funny moment, but also the most serious one of my life. Gasim kept telling me, "TJ, don't stop. This will grow. One day people will thank God for what you're starting now."

Those words stayed with me. And every time I knelt down to pray, I remembered them.

After a few shows, I moved to my uncle's compound. It was quiet and peaceful, perfect for recording. I hosted three shows there. Everything seemed to be going well until another challenge came.

My cousin advised me to stop using the place, saying it wasn't safe for the house and that such shows belonged in hotels, not homes. It hurt, but I didn't argue. I knew when God closes one door, it's because He's preparing another.

I prayed again asking for direction and quietly packed up to move. Later, I found kindness in a generous neighbor who allowed me to use her compound. I hosted seven more shows there.

Every talk show began with prayer — I prayed before every word, every recording. And I kept asking my girlfriend, my friend, and my mentor to keep praying for me, too.

But then came another storm. The landlord's son asked to borrow my wooden frame to "renovate his kitchen." I didn't feel right about it, but I agreed once I had settled. When I returned from field work, my frame was gone. I later discovered he had exchanged it for alcohol.

That moment broke me. I felt like my heart had been ripped out. All my work gone. I sat in silence, not knowing where to begin again. But even in that pain, I lifted my hands and said, "Lord, I may have lost the frame, but I haven't lost Vision. If You're still with me, I will start again." And God gave me peace.

Weeks went by without any show. It was painful, but I kept praying daily. I refused to lose hope. Then one afternoon, as I walked through town, I saw a sign that read: "House for Rent." I stopped immediately. Something in my spirit said, "This is your next step."

The place was an empty shop — dusty walls, broken floor, no ceiling — but to me, it looked like a promised land. The rent was affordable, so I took it by faith.

I knew it would one day become a great studio, even though I had nothing but faith to build on. And though I didn't have much, I didn't borrow. I managed the little I had, believing God would provide the rest and He did.

I prayed inside that empty room, saying, "Lord, I dedicate this place to You. Turn this empty shop into a studio of hope and light."

And slowly, with every little saving, every borrowed tool, and every ounce of energy, I began to transform it. I engaged my friend Olweny Victor Otime who has full knowledge in electrical engineering. He made some delightful design in the room without any payment.

I couldn't believe it — I remember he told me, "This is a great project, Taban." It was hard, very hard, but every challenge made my faith stronger.

Many nights, I sat in that unfinished room, whispering prayers into the silence. And even when tears rolled down my face, I could still feel God's presence. Because from the start, through every move, every heartbreak, every test, God was with me.

When I look back now at the small room where it began, the hot sun, the lost frame, the relocations, the prayers, and the pain — I don't see failure. I see faithfulness.

I see a God who was working behind the scenes, shaping me, testing me, strengthening me. I see how prayer became my foundation, how endurance became my testimony, and how every "no" prepared me for a greater "yes."

The TJ Agunda Show was not built on money or luck. It was built on faith, prayer, perseverance, and the hand of God. And today, it stands as proof that when you pray, when you believe, and when you endure — nothing is impossible.

So, if you're reading this, let my journey remind you. Your dream may start small, but with faith, prayer, and perseverance, God will make it grow.

Because what started in a small rented room beside my bed… Has become a movement of hope and inspiration. The TJ Agunda Show.
